Healing is not a one-time event; it’s a journey we return to over and over again. Life’s trials leave their marks, creating wounds that call us to seek renewal, comfort, and transformation.
Throughout history and across cultures, water has been seen as a source of profound healing. From sacred wells and springs to rivers and lakes, water spirits and deities have been revered as guardians of the sacred waters that bring healing, renewal, clarity, and transformation. These sacred places and their guardian spirits invite us to release our pain, reconnect with life’s flow, recognise what can be healed and what needs to be left behind, and to rediscover our inner strength.
The poem I’m sharing today reflects on this universal connection between water, spirit, and healing, the beauty of natyre and the wisdom of the Earth Mother in her many forms. It is an invitation to step into sacred space, where the unseen offers us restoration and hope. Wherever you find your sacred waters, may this poem speak to the part of you seeking renewal.
The Healing Well
Behind the veils of vines and trees
We find there her healing well
We slip within her cool embrace
In this her sacred dell
A hole in the heart, a sacred wound
A whirlpool draws the pain
The clouds part and reveal the moon
Bright Goddess remind us again
As doors shut and the bridges burn
Dark ripples reflect the night
The river below will toss and turn
What is real and what is right
A simple change, a winking eye
A turning to the green
To moon and wind, to stone and fire
To those that are unseen
Moon and water, Goddess and fire
The power of life to give
In darkness bright, our hearts desire
A sacred thing to live
